- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2025Color: blackVerified PurchaseI bought my first one in early February. I was replacing an old bluetooth speaker that had been dropped and died. This Anker Soundcore Mini was a great replacement. I has very good range, the charge lasts quite a while and the controls are all inside the body or flush anyway, so that if you do drop it they won't break.(like my old speaker did). I must admit that I have not listened to music through this other than ads that run during the pod casts that I listen to. I did have to purchase a second one after I knocked the first one into our washing machine while I was loading clothes. It continued to play for about 10 seconds and then it started to screech. It took what seemed like minutes to fish it out of the clothes and water but I doubt if it was more that a half a minute. I turned it upside down to drain water from the speaker holes on an absorbent surface. After it quit draining I put it into a plastic container with a bunch of those silica bags that most electronics and some pills are shipped with. Yes I save those things and this is why, after about 4 days I turned it on and it worked like nothing had happened!! I wouldn't recommend submersing this in a tub or water. In the mean time I had purchased it's replacement. So now I have two.
The only concern i have is that the charger cord and port, I find it challenging to hit the slot just right because of the curve of the speakers body. Also the cord is quite short, it could stand to be a foot or two longer.
I recommend this speaker.

sound quality is unbelievable for something so small. The battery lasts 3 work days for me which is about 27hrs.
Super quick and easy to pair with my android, automatically connects to my phone as soon as I turn it on, but I usually want the FM radio portion at work so turn it off until I use Pandora play lists. Of my 3 "usual" radio stations I get only 2 in the building, have not tried it at home to see if I would get the other station yet. I have scanned through them all and only pick up about 6 in the building, which is outstanding considering signal is really hard to acquire where I work. The only 2 things I don't like is not being able to "see" what station I am on and being able to listen to my 3rd station, which are minor issues as I can tell what station I am on in just a few minutes and if I want to listen to the other station, I can connect to Pandora. Thinking on purchasing a second one for outdoors and travel so I can leave this one at work.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2025Color: blackVerified PurchaseI love this portable speaker so much I bought 3 of them.
I bought one for my 2010 vehicle as my car radio died - was super surprised at how well this little speaker sounded in the car. The main reason I chose this speaker was because Anker always has great quality products and I wanted something that would connect to my phone but that I could also use a SD card with my favorite music on it. I liked the sound so much that I also got one to hard connect to my PC with an audio cable. I also got one for my Mom as well since she likes to sit out on the patio and listed to music.
Side Note - It has a radio option but I haven't been able to get that to connect to any stations around my area - you have to connect the power cable to the speaker when using the radio as it doubles as an antenna.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2024Color: blackVerified PurchaseI submitted a previous review, which I am now completely changing. I gave 4 stars both times.
My *** BIG *** complaint is the instructions. They consist of pictures, which are grossly inadequate. I read them, really I did. My IQ is 125, I was a physics major, I worked as a computer geek for a Fortune 300 company, including documentation, training, instructions and manuals. If *I* can't decipher the instruction - I conclude they are very poor, indeed.
I started out with the incorrect understanding that there are only 4 controls: On/off. Input selector. Volume up/down.
Play/pause. However this is incorrect, because using long-presses causes some of the controls have dual functions, in certain situations.
I will now review, feature by feature.
The sound quality is reasonably good. Substantial bass, decent highs. However, I notice that "listener fatigue" sets in pretty quickly, which means that the THD (total harmonic distortion) is high.
It is loud enough for use in the car while driving. When connected by Bluetooth, I have the volume on the speaker all the way to maximum, and the sound quality is still OK. If you connect either by Bluetooth or aux you can also control the volume from the phone, tablet, MP3 player etc. In town, I did not need to push the volume on my phone past the recommended maximum. However, on the highway (more noise), I did need to push the volume on the phone one or two clicks above the recommended maximum. Doing so did not distort the sound noticeably. But, again I experienced "listener fatigue", which is slightly worse when the speaker is at max, and the player output is extra high.
The FM radio works, but was confusing. You must (as instructed) use the charging cable as an antenna, or it won't pick up anything. As soon as I selected FM mode, it starts a station search/sweep. But it only stays on each station for about 1/2 second. At first I thought this is how it would act every time you select FM. That would have been terrible because you don't have enough time to hear what the station is playing. I mostly didn't care because I can use the FM radio in the car, so I just dismissed the FM feature as not useful. However, on a subsequent selection of FM mode, I discovered that it was on a station. And I, by-dumb-luck-chance, discovered that long-pressing the volume up and down buttons, advanced to the next FM station or previous FM station. I've concluded that the initial sweep was collecting an inventory of local stations Not sure how to redo it if I go somewhere else.
The SD card works, but is also confusing to use. I tried to figure out what order it plays files in -- random (good for most music), or straight through (required for a book). And I don't know what would constitute "straight through" - alphabetical by file name? The order the files were written to the SD card? Something else?
I tested with 1 file on the root, and 1 file in each of 2 subdirectories. It only found 2 of the 3. I don't know what that means. I went ahead and built an SD card by writing files one at a time to the "root" of the SD card, so that the order is what I wanted (the equivalent of random). When I played the SD cards the files were played randomly, not in the order I put them on the SD card. It sure would be nice if the instructions explained any of this. I am concluding that a book would not work (didn't test that). And I'm not sure if-and-how using folders on the SD card would work.
I did discover, by-dumb-luck-chance, that long-pressing the volume up and down buttons, advanced to the next item on the SD card, or back to the previous item. I also noticed, when playing from the SD card (as opposed to Bluetooth) I don't need to turn the speaker as loud. This probably helps with sound clarity. And, not using Bluetooth should extend the battery life of a recharge, since the (Bluetooth) radio is off.
The size and shape are perfect to fit in a cup holder (in a vehicle). My cup holders have covers, so, less likely someone will see it and want it. But it is very difficult to take out of the cup holder once it is dropped in. A small handle or strap or something on the top would be an excellent improvement. I put a piece of tape on the side of the speaker, sticking above the top of the speaker, and folded the top edge of the tape over onto itself, to make a tab to grab it by.
But putting it in a cup holder effectively defeats using it for calls with my phone, It puts the microphone at the bottom of the cup holder hole. So far, I've only received 1 call. I answered the call by picking up my phone, and answering the call there. Since the phone was Bluetooth connected to the speaker, the call sounds came out the speaker -- as intended. But, the microphone (at the bottom of the cup holder) didn't work well enough. I had to punch a button on the phone to stop using the Bluetooth for the phone, thus taking the call on the phone itself. It did automatically go back to playing music, when I ended the call. Nice.
But I can't tell from the instructions how to answer and end a call on the speaker. I assume it is possible. Nor do I know if I can initiate a call from the speaker, by pushing a button, and then using voice instructions.
I also tried putting the speaker on the dash board. I ended up deciding that it sounds better, bouncing off the windshield, except some of the high notes were slightly uncomfortable to listen to. This placement also allows me to keep the volume setting lower, which presumably increases sound quality and increase battery life. BUT, there is nothing to stop it from sliding around. I turned a corner too fast, and it flew off the dash into the side window. Nothing broke. Glad the window was closed.... Being on the dash will likely make the phone calling-features (especially the microphone) work adequately. The dashboard is now where I use it, all the time. I just have to remember to hold it, or take corners carefully.
When you power the speaker on, it always starts with Bluetooth. I think this is reasonable. I had anticipated using my phone (connected by Bluetooth) as the music source, most of the time. But I ended up using the SD card almost all the time, after discovering it didn't need to be turned up as high, and that I could change tracks manually.
It is easy to change input (Bluetooth, Aux, FM, SD card), repeatedly push the input selector button.
I suspect that the best choice, for most people, is likely to be playing sounds from your phone/mobile-device. Then you have the maximum controls of what you are hearing, on the device -- specifically including random or straight through play.
I don't know if it shuts itself off automatically. I didn't test by just leaving it on to find out. The battery life (with SD car play) is excellent. I use it for 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there - short rides across town. Still on the first battery charge after dozens of trips.
Each time I use it, I pull it out of the cup holder. I switch it on with the switch. It defaults to Bluetooth connection with the phone. I select SD card. And set it on the dashboard. When done, switch it off, and put the speaker back into the cup holder for storage.
I did use both music playback (from the phone) and google maps at the same time . They share the speaker perfectly, as expected, including turning the music down when maps is giving instructions, and going back when done. I didn't test Google maps (on the phone) at the same time as playing music from the SD card.
I like the sound quality, well enough.
I like the size and shape (but wish it had a "handle" on top).
Overall I do recommend it.

For a small speaker its great deal. And extremely portable. I can even put it in my pocket when my hands are full if I need to move around with it, plus the playtime is longer than other speakers I think it's around fifteen hours before you have to recharge it, so that is a definite bonus in my book
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2025Color: blackVerified PurchaseThis small speaker has performed perfectly after years of use. I put it in a drink holder on my bike and stream podcasts and music while I bike ride or kayak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Sound
Color: blackVerified PurchaseIt is with great pleasure that I express my profound satisfaction with the Anker SoundCore mini product, which I must say, is a true marvel that exceeded all my expectations in terms of quality, functionality, and value for money. This device is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best products I have ever had the pleasure of using, particularly when taking into account its incredibly affordable price point.
The SoundCore mini's exceptional performance is nothing short of remarkable, as it delivers sound that is both crisp and clear, while also being deeply immersive, creating an experience that is truly unforgettable. The sound quality is well-balanced across all frequencies, making it an incredibly versatile device that can handle everything from the deepest bass to the highest treble.
Furthermore, the compact and portable design of the product is an added bonus, making it incredibly easy to carry around with me wherever I go, without ever having to worry about sacrificing sound quality. It truly is the perfect companion for anyone on the go who needs to be able to enjoy their music no matter where they are.
The durability and sturdiness of the SoundCore mini are also particularly noteworthy, as it has proven to be incredibly resilient, withstanding the wear and tear of daily use with ease. This has made it an incredibly reliable companion for my music needs, giving me the peace of mind that comes with knowing that it will always be there for me when I need it.
Overall, I cannot recommend the Anker SoundCore mini highly enough, as it is a top-tier product that is worth every single penny. If you are in the market for a new portable speaker, then look no further than the SoundCore mini, as it is simply the best of the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Sound in Small Package – Minor Charging Flaw Aside
Color: blackVerified PurchaseI have had the Anker Soundcore Mini over a year now, and I remain impressed by its performance. Its sound quality is amazing considering its size with crisp sound and impressive volume and range. I listen to music, podcasts, and take calls using it and it never ceases to amaze me.
Its only drawback is the micro-USB charging, which is now less standard than USB-C. It will be a necessitate that I carry a spare cable when I travel, which is a minor hassle. This minor drawback, however, does not detract from the overall utility and value of the speaker.
Advantages
• Exceptional sound quality: Offers rich, deep sound for its compact size, making it suitable for personal listening almost anywhere. Surprisingly strong bass, with a nearly perfectly balanced sound profile.
• Light and Portable: It is extra portable due to its lightness and pocket size. Ideal for travel, outdoor applications, or from room to room within your home.
• Long battery life: Offers a maximum of 15 hours (Which I tested) of continuous playback from a single charge, with no need for frequent recharging. This is a huge benefit while traveling or for long music sessions.
Cons:
• Older Charging Port: It features a micro-USB port for charging, which is less common compared to the newer standard USB-C. It involves a separate cable that one must carry, making it less convenient to travel with.
• No Water Resistance: It has no kind of official water or splash resistance rating, so it is less ideal for use near water or wet areas. Outdoor use, as well as use in bathrooms, is not recommended.
Final Thoughts: The Anker Soundcore Mini is a strong, pocket-sized speaker with great sound quality and features for a very reasonable price. Its minor negatives, the outdated plug-in charging port and the fact that it is not water-resistant, are overshadowed by performance benefits. If a reliable, carry along speaker for everyday use is needed, the Soundcore Mini is a great choice.
