Yeah I read about this in the newspaper yesterday, was going to post something about but never got the chance!

The previous record holder was the Naga Viper, which was grown in the UK, and that was 1.3million SHU.

Pure capsacin is around 2million on the scale.

I read the SW post on this last week and am still wondering why they are handling those peppers bare handed let alone eating them. On the other hand, and I should look this up, I remember a story about a fruit that is so sour that after a bite, eating a lemon would be like sugar. Will post if I can find it again.

Added: Is it strange that we are raising the Spiciness level on a post about peppers?
