Nintendo Switch 2 doesn’t have a YouTube app, but it’s coming ‘soon’

The Nintendo Switch 2 has arrived, but it’s missing some apps, including a YouTube app. That will be fixed “soon” though, Google says.

In a post on Twitter/X, YouTube officially confirmed that its app will be “available on the Switch 2 soon.” As it stands today, the app available through the Nintendo eShop is exclusive to the original Switch, as noted on YouTube’s support page.

We’re working with Nintendo to make YouTube available on the Switch 2 soon.

It’s unclear why the app isn’t cross-compatible given the various similarities in the new console’s software, but YouTube would certainly benefit from what Nintendo has to offer with Switch 2, with 4K HDR coming to mind right away.

YouTube didn’t arrive on the original Nintendo Switch until late 2018, over a year after the console’s initial debut, so we’re already far ahead of schedule with talks underway this early.
