What’s new in Android’s June 2025 Google System Updates [U: 6/16]

The monthly “Google System Release Notes” primarily detail what’s new in Play services, Play Store, and Play system update across Android phones/tablets, Wear OS, Google/Android TV, Auto, and PC. Some features apply to end users, while others are aimed at developers.

The following first-party apps comprise the “Google System”:

A feature appearing in the changelog does not mean it’s widely available. Some capabilities take months to fully launch.

System Management

  • [Auto] Add a camera access toggle for Google Maps to the terms of service.

Utilities

  • [Phone] We’ve improved how you backup your device and photos for a smoother experience.

Wallet

  • [Wear] With this update, you’ll get an improved experience on transit related taps on Wear.
  • [Phone, Wear] Google Wallet is now available in more countries.

Google Play Store v46.7 (2025-06-16)

  • [Phone] With this update, you can download large apps on cellular data easily.
  • [Phone] You may find ads in a new grid format on the Play homepage.
  • [Phone] With this update, you’ll find redesigned components when you download and install apps on your device.

Google Play services v25.21 (2025-06-02)

Developer Services

  • [Phone] New developer features for Google and third party app developers to support Account Management related processes in their apps.

Safety & Emergency

  • [Wear] You’ll get alerts on Wear when an earthquake is expected to cause shaking.

Wallet

  • [Phone] Bug fixes for Wallet related services.

Google Play Store v46.5 (2025-06-02)

  • [Phone] With this update, you’ll find redesigned Webtoon samples.
  • [Phone] We’ve updated our survey features to collect user feedback effectively in Google Play.
  • [Phone] You can now find event details with the new “View” button on event cards in search results and app pages.
  • [PC, Phone] We’ve updated the featured in-app items to improve your overall experience.
