These Motorola smartphones are getting Android 16… you know, eventually

Android 16 just got its initial release, and now Motorola has confirmed a starting list of devices set to be updated.

Android 16’s release has been a bit of strange one, with the update arriving much earlier than usual and looking essentially the same as prior versions, but with a bigger design revamp in the pipeline.

As spotted by YTechB, Motorola has already confirmed a number of smartphones that it will be upgrading to Android 16 over time. The list unsurprisingly includes a lot of flagship-tier devices and foldables, but also a good number of the brand’s popular mid-range phones.

The current list is as follows:

Motorola has confirmed these updates via its support website, which shows updates confirmed to be coming to the company’s devices. However, it shouldn’t be viewed as a conclusive list and is subject to change with time. With that in mind, there are several notable omissions, such as last year’s base Motorola Razr (2024) and the first-generation ThinkPhone. It’s extremely likely these, and other omissions, will be included later on.

The big question right now is when. Motorola often announces these updates early, but the actual release is usually a ways off. For instance, the 2024 Motorola Razr+ didn’t get its Android 15 update until May 2025, and that was two months faster than the year prior.
