Galaxy Watch 6 series is getting Samsung’s latest update

The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic are getting an update that has already begun rolling out for other devices.

A new update under the build numbers R940XXS1BYE9 and R960XXS1BYE9 is beginning to roll out for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic, respectively. The update comes as a minor security update, which implements some software changes to keep the device functioning properly.

The May 2025 security update carries the following changelog:

The device is protected with improved security.

Minor in nature but good to download and install, nonetheless.

It appears that the update is rolling out for both devices in the US, though carrier editions may start to see the update as well. The update can be pulled in the Galaxy Watch settings or through the Samsung Wearables app. The update might even come as an update when the watch is rebooted or idle for some time.

Samsung is setting devices up to receive Wear OS 6, though the beta has not seemingly rolled out for devices after being officially announced for every watch except for the Watch 4 series. The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic will be a part of the One UI 8 beta, though timing is up in the air.
