One of the interesting aspects of the Pixel 9 series was that the base Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro could use the same cases. With the design of the Pixel 10 series almost exactly matching its predecessor, there was minimal hope that cases would be interchangeable, but that hope has been dashed.

Leaks have shown that the Pixel 10 series is very close in design to the Pixel 9 series. Even hands-on leaks have shown that the look is nearly identical. But we’ve known for months that, with very slight changes to the dimensions, Google’s new lineup would very likely not be compatible with the Pixel 9’s case collection.

Now, the folks at Android Authority have proven that true. Using an early case obtained from Thinborne, the publication shows where Pixel 10 cases will differ from their Pixel 9 counterparts.
In terms of dimensions, the slim case actually seems to fit. Barely, it sounds, as it’s noted that “it was a little tricky to get it all the way on.” Where things really differ is in alignment. The Pixel 10 will have two speaker cutouts on the bottom, for example, and the camera bar is slightly different too.
Again, none of this comes as a surprise.
We’ve known about a lot of these changes since CAD-based renders of Google’s new phones hit the web earlier this year. But if you do intend to upgrade to the Pixel 10 later this year, just know that your Pixel 9 cases won’t be compatible. And, in the opposite direction, those new “Pixelsnap” accessories won’t work with Google’s prior devices.
