Samsung site hints that One UI Beta for Galaxy Watch is launching soon

Earlier this week, Samsung announced One UI 8 Watch, detailing some of its upcoming features ahead of next month’s rumored Galaxy Watch 8 series unveiling. With the arrival of the company’s software support forums for its next big watch upgrade, we’re one step closer to a public beta.

Twitter user Theordysm spotted a landing page on Samsung’s US-based One UI beta community forums, suggesting a fairly imminent launch for supported watches (via SammyGuru). It doesn’t seem to be particularly public-facing at the moment — I spent a fair amount of time browsing Samsung’s beta-specific forums, but only found existing landing pages for smartphones — but nonetheless, it suggests we might not be waiting until next month’s rumored Unpacked to get our hands on One UI 8 Watch.

So far, Samsung’s only shared a handful of details on what its next major upgrade for its wearable lineup will entail. We know the company’s working on new sleep tools for improved bedtime suggestions and overnight stress tracking, along with an enhanced running coach mode and an antioxidant tracker designed to assist in “healthy aging.” We also know Samsung might introduce a subscription model for some or all of the upgraded capabilities coming to One UI 8 Watch, based on statements recently shared in an interview with the compay’s senior vice president and head of digital health.

If you’re the proud owner of a Galaxy Watch 5 or later, keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming announcement on One UI 8 Watch’s availability. Unfortunately, Galaxy Watch 4 owners shouldn’t expect to be included in this one — Samsung’s own fine print from this week’s announcement doesn’t mention any of the watches that initially brought Galaxy-branded wearables back to Wear OS to begin with.

We’re expecting to learn all about One UI 8 Watch when it’s unveiled alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 series at Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, rumored to be held in NYC early next month.
