iOS 26 is a packed update for iPhone users, and one feature I’m most excited about is a new Apple Music addition I’ve long wished for: pinned music.
Pinned music is a key new iOS 26 feature in Apple Music
Apple Music in iOS 26 offers the brand new Liquid Glass design found throughout Apple’s entire platform lineup.
But the change that has me especially thrilled is a new pinning feature for your Library.
You can now pin albums, playlists, and artists for quick, repeated access.
Long-press on the music you want to pin, and you’ll find the new ‘Pin Playlist,’ ‘Pin Album,’ or ‘Pin Artist’ options.
Once you pin something, it will live at the top of your Library tab inside the Music app in iOS 26.
Currently in iOS 26 beta 1, you can pin up to six items at once. This number may change before Apple ships iOS 26 publicly to all users this fall.
Your six pinned items can be a mix of different things: for example, one artist, a couple playlists, and a few albums.
Two reasons I’m excited for pinned music
iOS 26 was just announced today, and the developer beta is in its extremely early stages, so all of this could change in time.
That said, I’m extremely happy to see this feature arrive in Apple Music.
There are two main reasons I expect to use it:
- Accessing go-to music more easily than before
- and reminding myself of things to listen to
The former is pretty self-explanatory. But the latter feature is especially big for me.
In the streaming age, where all music is at my finger tips, I don’t always have the best memory of artists, albums, and playlists I want to listen to.
I’ll often forget that certain music exists until I stumble back across it.
Now, I can pin music that I want to remember to listen to and be reminded of it every time I open the Music app.
