The most satisfying wallet I’ve used – PunCube Mech Wallet tested

A hand holding a silver card holder

Over the years, I have tested wallets of all shapes, form factors, functions, and sizes, from traditional bi-folds to MagSafe wallets to wallets made of metal. Some were great, some were not so much. But even with the ones that I like, I always felt like I was sacrificing something. Whether it was not enough for the cards to fit, or there were no mgsafe capabilities, or the wallet was too thick. So when I saw the new Puncube Mech wallet and saw their fan-out mechanism to display their cards, I knew I had to try it. After using it daily, here’s why it’s officially my new favorite wallet.

Specs

The Mech Wallet is designed to be sleek, secure, and satisfying to use. Here’s a quick overview of what you’re getting:

  • The aluminum build gives you a premium and protected feel.
  • One-handed card access with a unique fan-out design (that is so satisfying to play with).
  • Holds up to 6 Cards
  • RFID blocking
  • Modular & Expandable: Optional add-ons, such as a MagSafe module, money clip, and AirTag module, are available.

The spec sheet checks all the right boxes for a modern carry wallet, but the design and mechanism really set it apart.

My experience

There is a ton to like about this wallet. But the main thing that caught my eye was the fan-out design. I want to carry 4 or 5 cards and a photo of my family. Most MagSafe wallets can only hold 2 or 3 of them, and getting the particular card you need is tough. This design fixes both of those situations for me. It holds all the cards I have, and since it is a fan design, I can grab the 3rd card as easily as the 1st or last card (this was a big issue with my Ridge wallet). So that feature and function alone, sold me on this.

Then you have the build quality and design. This thing is ultra slim and minimal, but since it’s made of aluminium, it’s also extremely sturdy. I dropped it once, and it was fine. Cards stayed in place, and the wallet barely had a scratch. The final cherry on top is the modular aspect of it all. It has attachments that you can add, like a money clip, a MagSafe attachment to put on your phone, and even an AirTag holder if you want to track it. So all this and the fact that it doubles as a fidget toy because of the magnetic mechanism to fan the cards out, has made the Mech wallet my new everyday carry wallet. I truly have nothing but positive things to say about this wallet.

Pricing & availability

The Mech Wallet is available and on sale for $69 (down from $99).  It also comes in three colors: Space, Cloud, and Forest (I am using the Cloud color). If you are in the market for a new wallet or need to give a gift to a loved one, I don’t think you can go wrong with this wallet. It’s sturdy, fidgety, holds six cards, super easy to use, and modular.
