I should have done this long ago. I kept putting off buying AirPods because the earbuds I had, and still have, work pretty good. Good sound, fit, charge, and they're black. The main reason I didn't was price. The price dropped on the ones I've looked at for a while and I bought them. I should have done this earlier. The difference in sound and features for this version of them is amazing. They are way beyond other earbuds I used.
I have some hearing loss which these make up for in ways I didn't expect. The same with blocking other noises except for conversations, which they can bring through music perfectly. I've been an apple guy from so far back, let's just say some people reading this weren't born yet. That could go for their parents as well. I'm talking Apple //, not //e days for those who know computer history.
The problems I encountered were few. I had to change to a smaller tip to fit my ears better. The tips can be a bit hard to pull off, but once you get how to do it, it isn't hard. Second was it turned on features like keyboard clicks and extra sounds to indicate you did something. Those take a few minutes once to find in settings and turn them off unless you like them. I also wish they had more than a six hour battery life. However, they recharge quickly. Also, they are white. Apple needs to do like they did with their keyboards and release some in black.
The good points are that once you learn them, the controls are easier to use and work with than my last earbuds. They are more comfortable as well. The ability to cancel outside noises is good, but allowing conversations to come through at the same time is wonderful. This is well worth the extra cost. The seamless integration with my Mac and iPad is another main feature. Take them out of the case and they can pair with both at the same time.
