It seems every now and again posts go abandon, we see a “OH THANKS GUYS FIGURED IT OUT!!” but no helpful or best answers get marked. Simple tutorial on how we go about doing this.

Step 1: Ask your question

Your question gets answered, now what do you do, we know Bob gave you a great answer.

Step 2: Click that manage button

This button must make it easier to find the best answer

Abandoned threads, and threads with no best answer or helpful post are annoying. We are here to help others out, by marking helpful and best answers it makes finding the correct answer easier for someone else. And it gives us who helped a much needed pick me up and boost for our helpful posts.

Is there a way to change the title? I think anyone that knows what BA and HP stands for are people already using it.

Just drop it where a post didn’t get an answer and you feel someone deserves credit. You’d help moderating even if you’re not a moderator.

Group Admins should set up an automated schedule and have a link to this how-to this emailed out to OPs of all open questions more than 2 weeks old…

This is so often missed out when you answered a question or had no response from the questionee. Do group admins have access to mark best answer/helpful answers when no response has been given within a certain time frame?

I also think it is worth noting in the body of your How To that awarding yourself BA does not earn you any points and that passing out the BA and your two allotted HPs only helps everyone.

Very good, and very simply roadmap to put a best answer mark.

If you can not find the place to mark an answer as the Best, then you have clicked “Needs no answer” at the top of the question. First make the thread to be of type “Needs answer”, then you can mark any answer as the best.
