I see a LOT of threads (and I don’t get in here as much as I would like), so would it be prudent to post a sticky thread on this particular topic…at least until after a few months go by.

People still won’t read it. I’ll just keep copying and pasting the answer

But then you could post “See the sticky” in your most passive-aggro way…

I would say yes but David is probably right. People don’t read signs.

I’ve got a long thread about it, here:

Partly because there’s too much data and too many signs - sure if you search you’ll find it, but if you don’t know what you’re looking for, and you ask a question instead, you usually get the answer quicker than if you searched for it. Sure it’s repeated, but it’s sorta personalized as they are responding to you specifically.

I say sticky that thing for a few months - it’s still fresh.

Maybe we don’t sticky so much for the other folks, but it would be useful for those of us that want to point them to the main thread.

But then I will lose all my easy BAs

Not if you are the one that replies with a link to it.

They may see the sticky and not even post. I like the easy ones

The thing I find is sticky or not, people don’t actually search too well and the related articles (which is under their new post before they complete it) isn’t actually very ‘in their face’ if they don’t scroll down they wont see it.

I think before the post is made live the ‘related’ searches should pop up and say, is your issue one of these and if not they have the option to say no and continue before posting.

Maybe we should have Spiceworks make a MOTD on the login page for one month…

You know…that’s a great idea, having the ability to post a MOTD/announcement for groups would be really handy. Do the GA’s already have this ability? I forgot.

Maybe like spiceworks tickets, we need a close duplicate thread option.

Report a dupe (using the down arrow in the upper right of the post) and a mod will lock it. I report dupes pretty often.
