Anti virus and malware protection

We have a lot of computers out there running different anti-virus programs and even some of the free programs.

What is the BEST and most cost effective anti-virus, malware, randsomware program I can buy that can be managed from the server and pushed out to the client computers.

I want to make sure this program does not slow down our already slow computers.

This must happen several times a day: we get a post asking for the best of a product or approach as if there is a clear "best" for each category. quick questions for clarification1. Do you want two suggestions; One suggestion for the best and one suggestion for the most cost-effective?

odds are they won’t be the same1. You said “managed from the server”. Will you verify if that means you are not willing to consider SaaS solutions?

I use avast for business free. The best, most cost effective AV that I have ever used. It also protects against PUPs, which is useful if someone does install malware. Best of all, it’s free.

I tried AVG back in the XP/Vista days. It worked ok, then we switched to MSE. Now both are useless programs that take up valuable system resources. Avast should just convert all AVG users to them.

AH!!! So it is an Amoeba after all. Management instructed us to call it an ink blot instead of an amoeba. “Amoeba is so negative…” was the reasoning we were given. Regardless of what it’s called, the AV works for us.

I think amoebas are pretty cool! This thread is actually the first I’ve heard “ink blot” but totally makes sense. Might be lost on younger folks though who are more used to Chromebooks than fountain pens!
