There have been a rash of new topics from people celebrating getting to the next pepper level. We are excited for you and want to celebrate your contribution, but having an individual topic for each time is getting to be too much. It is overwhelming the Water Cooler group because people have to wade through the pepper level posts to get to the rest of the topics. We're also seeing some point gaming where people are just saying "get your 11 points!" rather than just talking about their leveling…

It’s currently sitting at about 1,914 spice-ups.

And yeahhhh, we might have gotten a little aggressive with some of the Topic Master badges. Maybe that is something we can take a look at with the re-platforming (there are probably a few other badges like this). We want to top tier to be special… but also attainable

The highest level of that badge anyone has ever recieved is level 5 – 500 spice ups. I think when they first made it they were overly optimistic, or else that was before many badges were limited to business categories only. I think this one might be, so getting spice ups in water cooler might not even work.

A few years ago I submitted a proposal to readjust the leveling of this badge and take off the really high ones that no one has ever gotten, but it is a low priority desire, so it hasn’t been implemented. I am hoping it will be something we can adjust once we move over to the new platform.

I’d say don’t just remove those badges. Just scale back the requirements. Make the level 8 topic master 1,500 and roll back from there and once they are all rolled back if you can, award everyone that would have obtained those badges in the past with the new scale.

You will likely only need to create a thousand fake accounts to pull this off. The offer of a free SpiceRex did little to get me anywhere even close to that number.

Yeah, that is along the lines of similar conversations we’ve had. Also a bit like the one for the [Pepper] Levels, as well. Although, on the latter, it might be additional adjustments where we might adjust the prereqs but also pepper in a few new ones (see what I did there?).

I want to say a lot of these numbers (on the badge mission system) were initial ones we put together back in the day with David Bass and Sarah Crook… and a lot of it we were guesstimating for a v1 MVP. Might be time to time to do a v2
