Commenting/Replying to Discussions

I am new to SpiceWorks. How do I reply to an existing comment in a Discussion? Thank you.

Click the reply button at the bottom of the page and type your content.

If the page doesn’t have one, it may be locked (if it’s old)

Just hit reply.

If you want to quote part of the post, highlight the part you want to quote, then hit reply. Just don’t quote the entire post, or the system will automatically remove the quote.

Good point. After some amount of inactivity (usually a year I think), discussions are locked to prevent necroposting. This is a good thing as I’m on some forums where folks will randomly reply to a ten year old discussion, and then others start replying not realizing how old the discussion is.

To reply, click any Reply button to open the editor panel at the bottom of your browser. For example, if you scroll to the end of a post, you should see these icons:

You can also click the grey Reply button to reply to the original discussion thread

Some additional tips:

You can continue reading while composing your reply. Spiceworks displays posts chronologically without threading, simplifying navigation.
If your reply is next, it appears in order; otherwise, it’s linked to the preceding post.
Drafts are automatically saved.
To insert a quote, select text and press Quote.
To notify someone, mention their name by typing @
