I have made a few changes to our GPOs a few weeks ago and everything was working fine till I noticed users were able to open command prompt. I ran GPRESULT /SCOPE COMPUTER /V on multiple computers and noticed that one of the GPOs were not listed and all the GPOS that are listed show status of NOT APPLIED (UNKOWN REASON). I ran GPUPDATE /FORCE, then tried GPRESULT again but still get the same result. This happens to all the computers on the domain. It seems like none of the computers on the domain are being updated with the GPOs but the DC gets them. I am able to ping the DC from the workstations and from the DC to workstations. We only have 1 DC which is virtualized on a Hyper-V server along with a file and remote server. We did restart the Hyper-V server to add RAM about 2 weeks ago as well.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Can you post the GPO and the settings? Are you using any security filtering? WMI filters?

Can you post gpresult /h looking for the section regarding the GPO in question.

{"@type":"Person
justin1250
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/justin1250"}},{"@type":"Answer

Basically, “NOT APPLIED” doesn’t mean that the GPO have not applied.

What GPO have you applied on them?

How many DCs do you have? If the clients point to the healthy DC?

{"@type":"Person
Internet_Schneider
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Internet_Schneider"}},{"@type":"Answer

We only have 1 DC and the GPOs range from Password polices, application restrictions including CMD/Powershell and remote desktop access. When I run GPRESULT /V on the workstations, it shows the old GPOS but not the new ones I created.

{"@type":"Person
spiceuser-yzmsm
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/spiceuser-yzmsm"}},{"@type":"Answer

How would I check if there is security filtering? Under security filtering there is AUTHENTICATED USERS, DOMAIN ADMINS and ENTERPRISE ADMINS under default domain policies. They have always be there though. They are under every GPO. Restrictions is now called RESTRICTIONS/DESKTOP SETTINGS and it is not showing the updated version.

GPRESULT /H did not work so I ran GPRESULT /V

N/A
