Your subject isn’t going to get you much response.

Each company has different things to check, smaller companies might have 1 guy/girl do it all, larger companies may have 1-2 people checking and running backups and restores only.

You need to tell us what side of IT - MSP, Medical, government - each has different guidelines

Indeed and different kit to check. Where I work we don’t have any sort of daily check because we use the monitoring system to tell us if there is a problem. Should anything on the monitoring be critical or warning then it gets a ticket.

I do my daily chores first in the morning unless there is priority or executive requirements.

Example, mine is checking the spammers list, check some logs, get my timesheet up to date.

Get it out of the way.

I check my email and ticket lists. I “prioritize” what needs to be asap and what might wait. I also tend to try and get as many as the little things out of the way so they do not nag me. I would rather spend 1 hour closing 10 tickets than anything else. Makes 10 people happy quickly and now my list looks smaller and not overwhelming.

And then, GET IT DONE !

I have different methods referring to servers and clients. When I repair or build new workstations I run geek bench cpu benchmark, prime95 stress test and monitor temperatures with msi afterburner. If Temps are high I pull the cpu cooler off and reapply thermal paste. On servers, I make sure that resources aren’t being consumed entirely (my dc was 2 years out of date and constantly using 80 percent RAM and 60 percent CPU. Updated and now it runs a steady 15% RAM and 30% CPU. I keep spiceworks network monitor running, and it notifies or emails me when certain errors occur or usages peak. There is never a bad day to talk to your users, make sure that they are not having any issues and their computers are running smoothly. My users almost never come to me with issues, only after a couple minutes of conversation do they say “hey, I have this one thing… the application I entirely rely on doesn’t function properly”. Send out emails about phishing attempts, maybe write up a quick little informational document or find a good 2 minute video explaining security with phishing attempts. Nothing too complicated or long, they will lose interest. Other than that, learn something new every day! In a free moment do research, it’s work related and could save your butt one day!

I check the big board, we have PRTG up on a large display.
Look at the previous nights backup for errors etc
Check Helpdesk tickets for hot issues
Say hello to my boss and colleagues
Get some tea!
Ready for the users ;-}
