The iOS app will not load all posts in long topics, such as the Rant Here or the I Made the Next Pepper topics.

There have been a rash of new topics from people celebrating getting to the next pepper level. We are excited for you and want to celebrate your contribution, but having an individual topic for each time is getting to be too much. It is overwhelming the Water Cooler group because people have to wade through the pepper level posts to get to the rest of the topics. We're also seeing some point gaming where people are just saying "get your 11 points!" rather than just talking about their leveling…

Concept is simple enough. This thread is for rants, about anything & everything (within community guidelines). 3, 2, 1, /RANT! @VMware @HP @GoTo @Dell_Technologies @Sophos @Cisco @Epson

The rant topic will only load replies up to 2021 (page 236) and the pepper topic up to April 2022 (page 180). In both cases, the Next button is greyed out, but you can tap it. It just loads the same page.

A quick update as I’m working on the STR (steps to reproduce) and this looks like it has nothing to do with mobile but is simply an issue with Responsive Topics and occurs whether you’re on the desktop or mobile browser view.

For example, on the desktop browser view for Responsive Topics, the last page is 180 and the last visible post is from Apr 2nd, 2022 at 1:05 PM CT. When I look at it in logged-in view, it has 364 pages (which is expected to be different as you see more posts per page in the Responsive View) but the last post is from Jul 6, 2022 at 2:27 PM CT.

Old topic view has 25 posts per page, Responsive has 50. But, that means we’re missing anywhere between 75 and 100 posts between the two views based on the dates.

My working theory is this has to do with how we calculate posts per page when it comes to deleted posts as those are different between the two views.

Hi When I get a notification on my Android phone to let me know that someone has posted a reply to the “Official “Rant Here” thread” the link supplied never goes to the reply, but instead only ever goes to page 240 (from August 24, 2015!) Thought you should know… JJ

from an android perspective, saying that clicking on a link to see a reply from a specific person never gets there.

I should have posted this when I noticed it back in June. I was using my Android phone and would enter the topic around half way in the number of pages. I would then back out/exit and click the email link again to properly view the post on its correct page. I attributed it to caching or something. I didn’t even think about the issue being a part of me being a member of the beta group for the responsive layout update.

Luckily, posting about the issue gave us more than enough to look into it and figure out what is going on. I know we have triaged that ticket, so I’m hopeful we’ll get a fix out for it Soon™.

Why do you think that the Spiceworks trademark Soon would have any relation to time or November?

The Spiceworks trademark Soon means essentially sometime in the future AND before the corresponding tool or platform reaches end of support. That’s at least how I understood it. I know of several bugs and feature requests and no feedback of Spiceworks if these will ever get fixed or implemented. So soon sounds to me to be before those confirmed bugs with no commitment to fix yet.

Hi Jeff, before I throw in the meme, let me be professional first

Let me check on that one with the team. I know we’ve been a bit heads down on some core architecture upgrades ( such as with last night’s maintenance ), but this one feels like it should be low-hanging fruit (granted, I am not a software engineer so I could be wrong). I’ll talk to the team and see if we can bring this one in actually soon.
