We can back up NAS boxes from third party computer as well as using our app on a NAS.

Currently we support QNAP and Synology NAS boxes.

I think you are asking backup to cloud. Most of the backup software Companies ( including Vembu ) offering this cloud backup solution to the end customers as a redundancy solution for their backup. As you said, your NAS on your onsite location will be the primary storage, and cloud storage is the replication storage.

Mostly, all backup providers has hosted their application in cloud ( as SaaS application ), and will accept the encrypted data from the backup server ( ie your NAS storage attached to a backup server on your location ). The backup application running on the server, will contact the cloud storage repository and push the data over internet through a secured tunnel.

They provides a web interface for your data in the cloud through their SaaS application running on the cloud. You can download the data from the web interface. For that they provided an account, on login you can view your backup and files to download.

The reality is that there are many different ways to perform offsite backups to the cloud, Here are a couple of examples:

Traditional cloud backup - Your NAS data gets moved to a backup destination in the cloud automatically.
Local backup with copy to the cloud - You backup data to some local storage and then copy data to the cloud for DR and retention purposes
Replication - You could potentially replicate the data stored in your NAS to some sort of a cloud target. In doing so, you would need to be sure that you have the ability to roll back to a previous state

The point here is that these are just three options and there are many more. The choice of approach will depend on your budget, your business requirements, amount of data, current systems and many different factors. Stating that you have a “Seagate setup” is not enough information to help us provide a meaningful solution.

It would be helpful if you could provide more details on your environment and your challenges. This will help us help you. Without this information, there is really no way to answer your question.
