You can’t transfer ost files, you have to output to a pst, then import it back in.

OSTs are cache files, when you connect to the mailbox a new one will download.

But we don’t know what it is you are trying to do

Try recreating the account on the new box, and delete the .ost file.

As Sid has suggested above, you can export into pst and import them back into OST.

If you wish to automate the process, you can try using Lepide exchange recovery manager which should be an ideal solution for you.

I have an exchange server 2010 and specifically an email account configured on a laptop with win 7 operating system error sending your OST was opened on another machine. The laptop was in use at that time with open email.

my question is if someone is trying to open this mailbox on another machine or can be error OST

The OST file is just a cached file, local to the PC. As long as your Exchange Server is working correctly you can delete the file and a new one will be created automatically.

There is no way this can mean someone else is opening it on another PC because this file is just a local copy.

This kind of error usually means that someone manually copied the OST from one PC to another PC, which isn’t supported.

The issue could be caused by a couple of things. It’s always possible someone in the office is hacking into this guy’s system. I suspect it’s very unlikely, but you should examine the security logs for logins to this guy’s system. The other possibility is that the file was open in Outlook and either outlook, or windows crashed leaving the file in a curious state.

Just use the Mail control panel application to remove the exchange account, then re-add it. That process nukes the old OST file and creates a new one. You can also adjust how much mail to cache too!

You can access your mailbox in any machine from anywhere. You don’t need to rely on ost file, as it will be created on a new machine automatically whenever you connect to Exchange Server. No need to copy it!
