In general, what is sounds like is that it is an application and some other service already is using port 8005.

So you either have to stop the service/application that is using 8005 or tell the application to use a different port.

Hello, I am trying to install Spiceworks Network Monitor Beta 0.9.00046, but get an error that Network Monitor uses port 8005 but there’s another service already listening on it. When I run a netstat command, the port is used by 127.0.0.1:8005 tomcat6.exe. Is there anything I can do to run this new program? I’d love to check it out. Bob

Cant you specify another port for the Monitor? Do you have an Apache webserver? That’s probably what’s using it.
