Powershell script to copy today files

Hello guys,

I have a small question. I want to copy files from folder A to folder B but only from today.

But it’s copying always from 2 days. Is there an issue with my date format?

Here is the script:

$DestinationFolder = “C:\Users\Administrator\OneDrive - Aquality BVBA\Factuur PDF recent”
$EarliestModifiedTime = (Get-date).AddDays(-1)
$Files = Get-ChildItem “C:\Datareflex\Reflex\001\Factuur PDF*.*”
foreach ($File in $Files) {
if ($File.LastWriteTime -gt $EarliestModifiedTime)
{
Copy-Item $File -Destination $DestinationFolder
Write-Host “Copying $File”
}
else
{
Write-Host “Not copying $File”
}
}

subtracting a day from current date time gives you this time yesterday.

Try this: (This should be current day at 00:00)

$EarliestModifiedTime = get-date -Hour 0 -minute 0

Yeah, the -second parameter could get you precisely to the stroke of midnight, but I took a gamble that it didn’t require quite that much precision and it was already, as you mentioned, a little cumbersome.

-format d gets you there a bit cleaner with a few less keystrokes, true

Hello guys, it’s working great, only the script is overwriting existing files. How can i prevent that, so only new files are being copied?

You can use Test-Path and if condition,

$TestPath = Test-Path $DestinationFolder\$File.Name

if ($TestPath -eq $true) {

# file exist
Continue

} else {

# file does not exist
# copy file

}

I have ‘double IF’ statement now. I think i did something wrong because it’s still overwriting.

it has the -WhatIf switch, it shows what it WOULD do.
remove it for it to actually do anything.
