Learning SQL is a beast in itself. You sort of have to be sort of passionate towards it and be able to use it daily. Otherwise you’ll forget it in time, etc. So you’ll have to ask yourself, do you really want to learn it and are you shifting your career towards it.

I would recommend starting with basics. Understand how to install and configure Microsoft SQL server and or MySQl. Learn how to backup and restore databases. Learn the basics of SQL with databases, tables, colummns, primary keys and foreign keys. Learn how to get data from a table, how to update a row, table and other options based on your criteria.

I suggest going to youtube. Also, if you cant ask the right questions, how are you supposed to make it in IT? Dont be lazy, google stuff before asking for help.

SQL and SQL Database?

Do you mean learn to query a database using SQL? Or do you mean learn to administer an RDBMS like SQL Server or ORacle?

It’s difficult to offer advice because, like so many things in IT, it’s complicated. Will you be a dev using sql or a DBA?

Are the databases business critical?

I am willing to put in the work to learn SQL inside and out. I love where I work and I am always up to any challenge my superiors give . Why I stepped up to the challenge of learning SQL Querying Database. Just not sure where to start or develop a road map I need to be more familiar with SQL scripting so i build front end database for my company. Any Professional advise is appreciated.

Thanks for the good starting points. I’m currently looking into learning SQL as it was part of my review to learn SQL to help with our new ERP upgrade.

I suggest firstly not writing everything in CAPS ha ha

Secondly, try code achademy online, its free and has guides, tests and lessons for every language
