What do E-Rate consultants normally do for a client?

“Help” is a little vague. Asking Better Questions

What do you mean by e-rate? this is not an ISO standrd abbreviation so it may be locaiton specific? Where are you in the world? Did you consider that wide audiienceds on the internet need some help understanding the detail you may assume.

a quick google suggests you may be reffering to something specific to the USA where it would appear there are two main types of e-rate consultant. The first helps you use and maximise e-rate products and services. The second are IMHO the lowest of all and help you maximise funding you can recieve. These are bottom dwellers who are profitting out of a shcmed designed to do good. Those that can pay the best consultant will get more of central funding, where as those that probbaly need it mosrt cant afford a fancy consultant and will get less. A smaller subset appear to eb soncustlants that can be prcured via e-rate. These most likely provide IT / communicaitons consutling but they may consultant on anything.

talking erate for schools? this can be several different technologies, bandwidth, cabling, etc.

Depends on the consultant and the level of service contracted…

Some consultants only “give advice” which sometimes translates to you paying them to get the information USAC freely emails and publicly posts on their website.

Some go as far as doing the whole process for you, so all you have to do is sign the required documents at the required times.

Some offer E-Rate services anywhere in-between those extremes.

I’ve worked at a school that had a very helpful E-Rate consultant who did almost everything E-Rate related for the school, and now I currently work for a school where we do the entire E-Rate process in-house.
