Something to note here is that OneDrive for Business is for PERSONAL storage (think of it like a cloud version of “My Documents”). Each user in an office365 environment has their own OD4B space. Yes, you can share out files and folders with others, but it isn’t really designed to replace a shared fileserver. The fileserver replacement would more likely be Sharepoint Online. What's the Difference Between OneDrive and SharePoint? - BetterCloud

The process to upload to both Sharepoint Online and OneDrive for Business is the same. If you don’t have access to the desktop syncing app, logon to the office365 web portal, navigate to the OD4B web app (or sharepoint app), and click the upload option. This will allow you to upload a single file or an entire folder. You’ll see a spinning progress icon on the page, and can click to see a detailed list of what has and hasn’t uploaded - as well as any errors encountered (File Names requirements are stricter in the office365 environment than an on-premise file server).

{"@type":"Person
abebyrd0616
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/abebyrd0616"}},{"@type":"Answer
yeah the free tool is one drive. it will take some time to upload but you can just use one drive to upload all the files. i believe they eve started to allow folder uploads via the web portal.

{"@type":"Person
bear7079
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/bear7079"}},{"@type":"Answer
OneDrive for Business is not equivalent to a shared folder on a sever. Not to Dopbox, Google Drive/Backup or even OneDrive (consumer).

It is a front end for SharePoint online personal sites and a unified view of the files you have access to in Office 365.

Be very careful how you approach this migration, because ODfB has the inherent limitations of it’s SharePoint back end as far as number of files per library, path length and legal characters path names
