This is a user, they joined 4 days ago and the first question they asked was:

spiceworks is detected as a malware in my laptop? should i allow it or not? won't it affect my laptop's performance and files?

Now they seemingly are asking how to access there router (To check for rouge connections) and what the username and password is for it.

Both of which are specific and require more information however Niccolo possibly doesn’t know enough about what he/she is asking to tell us what they need help with.

What do you mean by monitor?

I assume your pc is hooked up to a wireless router?

For the passwords, If you do not know them, it is for a reason. Your I.T persons are suppose to know them to prevent other users from changing things that they shouldn’t.

Actually this question makes sense in one and only one manner - @niccolocawaing wants to monitor which PCs are actively going out to the internet via a router. She needs to get the credentials for the router from her network admins (assuming they’ll give them to her) or from whomever set up the router.

The problem is unless the router’s reporting can be filtered to not return service requests such as DNS then there will be a lot of garbage to wade through.

Ask your network admin for the credentials. When in doubt, try a bruteforce attack! Kidding, dont do that.

i don’t know what to input here besides the ip address. i would actually want to connect to all pc’s here in the office via spiceworks so i could monitor how much bandwidth they are using.

You will put the correct IP address in, but for the username, use the administrator account and password.
