DJI releases new firmware update for Mavic 4 Pro drone

DJI has released a fresh firmware update for its flagship Mavic 4 Pro drone, bringing a wave of performance improvements and fine-tuned features to the aircraft. The update, which is now live, also includes new firmware versions for its compatible remote controllers.

Here’s what the latest compatible firmware versions look like:

  • Mavic 4 Pro aircraft: v01.00.0200
  • DJI RC Pro 2 controller: v01.00.0200
  • DJI RC 2 controller: v06.00.0100
  • DJI Fly app: v1.17.1

While DJI’s official notes simply say the update “fixes some known issues,” UK-based retailer Heliguy has discovered several meaningful improvements for drone pilots.

What’s new in Mavic 4 Pro firmware update

  • Sharper camera tilt in vertical shooting mode, allowing more dramatic angle options for social media content.
  • Improved flight stability in foggy or misty conditions, reducing drift and keeping footage smooth.
  • Fix for motor vibrations during ground operations, resulting in safer takeoffs and landings.
  • Fine-tuned ActiveTrack distance, giving pilots more control and accuracy when tracking moving subjects.

The Mavic 4 Pro was unveiled globally last month as DJI’s most advanced folding drone yet. Packed with a 100MP Hasselblad camera and a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor, the drone supports 6K/60fps HDR video, a 360-degree rotating gimbal, and up to 51 minutes of flight time, making it ideal for discerning content creators and professionals.

It also features omnidirectional obstacle sensing, OcuSync 4+ for stronger connectivity, and a redesigned RC Pro 2 controller with a bright, rotatable 7-inch Mini-LED display.

However, despite its impressive specs and global launch, DJI surprised many by not releasing the Mavic 4 Pro in the United States. The decision was reportedly influenced by customs and trade complexities, even though the drone passed FCC certification. As a result, US-based pilots have had to rely on imports or travel abroad to get their hands on it.

If you already own the Mavic 4 Pro, this firmware update is well worth downloading. The improvements in camera tilt and tracking will be particularly appealing to content creators, while increased stability in tough weather makes it even more reliable.
