Splott-born Stitfall played more than 400 games for his hometown club
Former Wales and Cardiff City footballer Ron Stitfall has died at the age of 82.

Stitfall played his entire career for the Bluebirds, his hometown club, making 421 appearances and scoring eight goals from 1947 until 1963.

He played almost of his games at full back winning two Welsh caps and later became the national team's kit man.

The Football Association of Wales described Stitfall as "one of the great unsung heroes of Welsh football."
Stitfall also coached at Newport County and up until a few years ago was a regular spectator at Ninian Park until he began to suffer from Alzheimer's Disease.
The Splott-born player retired from the game on his 38th birthday in December 1963 and was said to have died on Sunday 22 June.
