Another Michigan Heroine

Thank you Hedwig Diane Orlowski for your supreme sacrifice on behalf of your adopted country.
America was indeed fortunate to have courageous operating room nurses like you who routinely saved and repaired lives.
Your commitment to soldiers will never be forgotten or unappreciated. You chose the highest calling in life and paid the ultimate price.
RIP LT Orlowski.

HEDWIG ORLOWSKI IN HIGH SCHOOL

Nurse Hedwig Orlowski went by her middle name of Diane in her school days. She is pictured with her sophomore class in Wiesbaden, Germany. It was her only year at that school, during the year of 1959-1960. The school was one of many American schools in postwar Germany and was named General H H Arnold High School after US Army General Hap Arnold. Hedwig’s parents both served in the military. Her Mother Zuzanna, was a Polish army nurse during World War II. Her Father Bronislaw, also served during World War II in the Polish Army 2nd Corps. Hedwig, like many other of the thousands of students that went to these schools, would one day follow in their parent’s footsteps and serve in the military as well.
