Latest app version does not syn

I am having trouble completing the syncing of my device to phone and therefore to the website at Airthings. App miser often than not complete the syncing and times out. There is no data from before when this happens. If by chance the app does sync then I can see the graphs with all my data for the past 2 years. But the latest version doesn’t complete syncing reliably and is getting to be useless as an app and as a useful monitoring device for me. I have an iPhonex. Fix this!

May 28 Update: In addition to this review, I had sent an email to Airthings. To my surprise I had a response within hours. I had found and reported the same bug that someone else had found. Airthings had already released a fix and when I checked with the App Store there was a new version available. It was installed and the issue was no longer present. Thanks Airthings. With the rapidly response I can amend the review rating to a Five.

Hi there, we are very sorry about the frustrations you are having with syncing with our app. It definitely sounds like something is not working as intended. Could you please reach out to [email protected] so that we can investigate this issue further?

App is annoying and plots are not accurate.

The app can be quite annoying in when it sends out notifications. The plots are also not accurate.

I have a house without central heating, live in a dry climate and it is winter so I can’t open windows. It is helpful to know when a metric is high, once perhaps twice. Given that I can’t/won’t fix some of these issues I do not need to hear about them. I also live in a region with radon and am getting daily notifications about its level and I am only half way through the calibration period. I’d love to turn off all notifications except radon and not even get radon notifications until the 30 day calibration period is up. But no, the app isn’t for users.

Lastly the plots of measurements. When you focus on a day perhaps around time when cooking in the kitchen you will see VOC exceed a maximum of 2000. In the 3H view the value might be 3700, in the 24h view 3000 in the 7d view 1600 and in the 30d view 500. They do have a view hidden in a menu below the plots to show maximum and minimum but the averaging hides what is happening. They do not tell users why they are averaging and if we should care. If seeing a measurement exceed a limit is important in the 3 hours view why isn’t it important when looking at the same data in a plot that covers 30 days?

Developer Response ,

Hi there,

Thank you for your invaluable feedback. When using the app, you can select your device, select settings, and then pick which notifications you want to enable. If you want to enable Radon only, you can do that.

When it comes to the graphs and plot, we would love if you could reach out to our excellent support staff at [email protected] so we can get a better understanding of the issue and either explain or fix it.

One of the most used apps

This year I started using Airthings radon reader because the radon level in the basement started reading high. After installing mitigation system, the app reflected improvement within 24 hours. I didn’t have a chance to use the old app as most reviews mentioned here but I’m giving it a 5 star review. Yes, you need to be close by the device to have the sync but I never had any issues fetching the data or data missing from the graphs. One of the cool feature is their online Dashboard that I also use every day. Temperature and humidity is also a plus. Simple app, accurate data, that gives me a piece of mind every day knowing that it’s safe air for the family. Thank you, Team Airthings
