When the park announced Top Thrill 2 last year, Carrie Boldman, VP and general manager of Cedar Point, called the ride “the most advanced coaster Cedar Point has ever produced.”

Cedar Point developed Top Thrill 2 in partnership with Zamperla Rides. The coaster’s predecessor, Top Thrill Dragster, was manufactured by Intamin.

Riders may not have any loose articles on their person; all riders participate in a metal detector scan prior to joining the line. Locker rentals are available for a fee outside of the queue. Guests can wear glasses, but only with an athletic strap. Consult the full safety rules for exact details of these and other procedures.

Happy opening day and congratulations to the development and operations teams!

Top Thrill Dragster

Top Thrill 2’s former self, Top Thrill Dragster, initially opened in 2003. Following a 2021 incident in which a small piece of metal struck the head of a guest waiting in line, Cedar Point closed Top Thrill Dragster for investigation and ultimately retired the coaster permanently.

The new version reimagines the Top Thrill Dragster experience with a linear synchronous motor (LSM) launch system, new coaster trains, and an expanded track layout, now featuring two 420-foot “top hat” towers instead of just one.
