The 1999 Convention Committee is pleased to introduce our local and international leader in high technology systems: a leading lady in technology, leadership and diversity. Ms. Kim Komando was 9 years old when she first sat at a computer and soon became touted as a "one-person PC industry." Her enthusiasm, tenacity, perseverance and, most of all, her technical expertise, have led her to her current status as business owner, author and national talk show host and newspaper columnist on computer education.

In 1985, Ms. Komando earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems from Arizona State University. She secured a position as a Marketing Representative with IBM and later transferred to AT&T as a large business systems Account Manager where she received recognition for her sales achievements. Unisys Corporation hired Kim, who went on to close the largest commercial deal in the companys history with an $11 million sale to a FORTUNE 500 company in 1991. It was during her Unisys career that Kim began writing her weekly syndicated newspaper computer column and hosting radio and television programs.

Ms. Komando is widely recognized in her weekly syndicated computer column in newspapers and on CNN. She is the Computer Editor for Popular Mechanics magazine and has two recent best sellers CyberBuck$: Marketing Your Business and Products Online, and Dummies 101: Creating Web Pages.

Kim may be heard on her top-rated syndicated network talk radio show, which is aired on more than 300 talk stations throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. She hosts a computer feature heard daily on more than 200 radio stations throughout the United States, and recently, she hosted the television broadcast of COMDEX.

Kim Komando continues to expand her companys reach through worldwide ventures in the computer, media and publishing industries and currently owns a major interest in the WestStar TalkRadio Network, a national radio and television broadcast syndication company.

Kim will discuss her path to success, from the nine-year-old at the computer keyboard to the spry, 34-year-old internationally renowned expert in the personal computer world. Shell share her strategies, compromises, lessons learned and, most of all, the successes that she has experienced to date. She will also share her vision for the future, not only for herself and her business, but for all of us who have no choice but to become immersed in the leading edge of technology. Ms. Komando is truly exemplary of our Convention Theme: On the edgeof technology, leadership and diversity.
