Military Occupational Specialties
As a Marine, your most valuable set of skills will be the ones you develop during recruit training. You'll become confident, resourceful, and highly adaptable. After recruit training you will gain the additional skills of a specific military occupational specialty, or MOS. Your MOS will be your area of expertise. Whether your interest lies in driving tanks, programming computers or fixing jet engines, there is an occupational specialty for you.

The length of your training will vary according to which MOS you select, but all told you may be in training for as long as 58 weeks before reaching your first permanent duty station.
