Officer Candidates School (OCS)

Officer Candidates School (OCS) is where Marine Officer candidates find out if they have what it takes to become leaders of Marines.

Students submerge themselves in training. They are continually tested and evaluated on their character, appearance, speech, command presence, strength, agility, coordination, endurance and intelligence. They are also assigned temporary leadership positions to judge their abilities to lead other Marines.

Upon successful completion of OCS, candidates will have earned their commissions as Second Lieutenants of Marines.

There are two officer programs you can follow, depending on your educational status. If you have graduated from college, you're ready for Officer Candidate Class. If you're still in college, you may enroll in the Platoon Leaders Class.
