Reserves

The Marine Corps Reserve is critical to the Marine Corps ability to provide a balanced force of readiness in times of conflict. Though not on active duty, Reserve Marines are fully trained, participating in the same intensive training programs and working in similar occupational fields as their active duty counterparts.

With the ability to work part-time at a Marine Reserve unit near home or school, Reserve Marines can continue to pursue a full-time civilian education or career. As a Reserve, you would generally serve one weekend per month and two weeks during the summer.

As a Reserve Marine, you can choose your military occupational specialty (MOS) prior to enlisting. You will also earn good pay and receive special allowances for living expenses. Finally, there are a host of other benefits available in the Marine Reserves, including shopping discounts at the military exchange, life insurance and educational assistance.
