Officer Rank

There are ten steps in the officer rank structure. As a new officer in the Marine Corps you will hold the rank of Second Lieutenant, or O-1. You will be considered a company grade officer while you hold this rank. Once you achieve the rank of Major you will be considered a field grade officer. Three steps after that promotion you will join the ranks of the general officers and pin a star on your collar.
