14th to 21st February and 1st April to 31st October. (Closed 22nd February to 31st March). Open 1pm to 4pm. Extended during local school holidays to 10am to 4pm daily. During 2009 these school holiday dates are: -

Admission prices

Museum pass to all 3 museums:

Family and '3 in 1' passes are valid for one month. Make your pass valid for a year at no extra cost with Gift Aid.

* Up to 4 children per accompanying adult.

How to get to Ripon

By road: -

Parking for cars and coaches is situated conveniently near to the museums in the main city car parks next to the bus station (see the Law and Order Trail map).

By public transport: -

The '36' bus runs up to every 20 minutes between Leeds, Harrogate and Ripon. Telephone 01423 566061 or visit www.the36.co.uk for further information.

The 'Ripon Roweller' local bus service provides a link from the outlying villages into Ripon bus station. For more details telephone: 01423 526655 or 01609 785668.

By boat: -

Ripon is the most northerly point on the English canal system. From the River Ouse navigate the River Ure to join the Ripon Canal at Oxclose Lock.

Accessibility

Full access is available at the Prison & Police Museum and at the Workhouse Museum.

Limited access is available at the Courthouse Museum (a portfolio presentation of the rooms and exhibits within the Courthouse is available for those unable to gain access to all areas).

Group/School visits

Group visits are welcome at any time by prior arrangement. They are easily made on foot as the museums lie within a few minutes walk of the coach park. Allow about 2 hours to see all three.

There is a discount on admission for groups of 10 or more and personal guides are provided, as required, at no extra charge. Visits can be themed to suit your group.

Organisers and teachers are encouraged to visit in advance. The Trust is happy to further advise planning your visit to Ripon and the surrounding area.
