Another successful auction is in the books! The 2008 Hawaiian Style Dinner and Auction Fundraiser was a our most successful yet. We’re just about done wrapping everything up, so I felt it was time to touch base.
The question is ‘what are we going to do with the money’. There are obviously some annual efforts that eat up a chunk of our funds. These include lighted practice, player scholarships, equipment purchases, field rentals, multi-player discounts, rising costs of referees and affiliation fees, and of course, maintaining the LOWEST player fees of any soccer club in Pierce County.
Due to our outstanding effort of the ‘Fund an Item’ at the auction we raised nearly $2,000 towards the replacement of the MOD uniforms for 2009. Over the offseason we will be contacting vendors and evaluating uniforms. We will be excited to roll out new MOD uniforms in 2009!
As we look forward to 2009 we are financially positioned quite well to continue with our success both on and off the field. Where the club continues to struggle is with volunteers. There are a few board positions open at the club’s Annual General Meeting in December. Please, if you are thinking about getting more involved, contact any one of the current board members. We really could use your help. Parents, coaches, anyone who wants to help our kids.
The auction committee will have a post-auction meeting to brainstorm issues and what we can do to make 2009 even more successful. We continue to learn each year and I think we are doing better and better the following year.
Please pass on our thanks to donors, volunteers, and your friends and families for their support of our club and our children. There’s no way we could do it without you! We appreciate the support very much!
