Tacoma Tide F.C. is an American soccer team, founded in 2006. The team is a member of the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League(PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, and plays in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference against teams from Abbotsford, Victoria, and Vancouver, Canada; Seattle, Bremerton, Salem, Portland, Spokane and
Yakima. The Tide roster is made up of amateur players who compete at the highest levels of the collegiate game. They play in the PDL during their summer months on leave from the college game. The Tide also field top notch high school players and some recent college grads.
They were introduced into the league at very short notice in 2006 when it was announced that the now defunct Spokane Shadow franchise were suspending operations for the season. In 2008, Tacoma FC took on the name Tacoma Tide FC. In addition, their bright yellow home jerseys have prompted fans to refer to them by that color: "Go Yellows."

In 2009, the Tacoma Tide FC ownership acquired the Seattle Sounders Women’s franchise. The Seattle Sounders Women play in the W-League of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The Sounders Women play their home matches at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA.
