Top Story

Congratulations to Notable Spider Alumni

Congratulations to Spiders players Dan Philp, Halvor Mikkelsen, and Chase Mikkelsen for reaching the Top Ten in the recent Seattle Sounders try-out.

While only a few of our players could participate in the tryout, due to scheduling conflicts with college matches, the ones that did stood out from the crowd.

And Chase Mikkelsen stood out even more. Chase (with several goals and assists in our 2007 season,) went to play in Norway for a year, and then came back for the tryout with the Sounders. He succeeded in making the coveted Top Three of all players contending (the other two having travelled to Spokane from other states or countries,) and is moving on to the next stage, extended trial with the Sounders at their facility in Seattle.

We wish him well, and are confident that he will shine.

In other news, Nic Barclay, who was on the 2008 PDL All Conference team selection was honored as the WCC defensive player of the year. Tye Perdido, starting striker for the Spiders, was on the all-WCC first team selection as well. For the full article on the Gonzaga University players please click here.
