It’s hard to imagine a warmer, friendlier
community than ours. After all, Union County earned its name by
uniting people and acreage from Delaware, Franklin, Madison and
Logan Counties with part of the old Indian Territory back in 1820.
These people pulled together over the years to create a successful
farming community, a flourishing business sector and a growing
industrial base. Today, Union County encompasses 434 square miles
and almost 60 thousand people, but that same sense of neighborliness
still abounds—and that’s what Memorial Hospital is
all about.

The people
of this community created Memorial Hospital through their
vision, hard work and hard-earned contributions. Their efforts
brought quality healthcare closer to home at a time when the
nearest hospital was over 30 miles away. After 52 years at
the heart of Union County, Memorial Hospital and The Gables
at Green Pastures now employ over 800 people—people
you run into at the grocery store, people who have kids on
the same soccer team as yours—people you know.
That’s what sets us apart from the
larger health care organizations in bigger cities. We’re all neighbors
here, and Memorial Hospital cares about you with the warmth and
familiarity only a neighbor can offer. We care about the community,
too. Look around. You’ll see Memorial Hospital providing
free health screenings, offering health education
courses and support groups, even sponsoring special events like
our annual golf tournament. Being the best neighbors we can be
is the only way we know how to repay a community that’s
responsible for our very existence.
