THIS is the secret baby sister actress Kate Hudson has NEVER met.
And as she sits on her doting dad’s knee Lalania Hudson today makes a heartbreaking plea to meet the big sister she longs to be part of her life.
“Hi Katie, I’d love to meet you some day because you are my sister, “ she says.
It has been almost three years since Kate’s dad Bill Hudson and partner Suzanne gave birth to their adorable ringlet haired daughter.
But unbelievably despite living minutes away from her father’s home the 30-year-old Almost Famous actress - whose mum is actress Goldie Hawn -has NEVER made any attempt to meet her half sister.
Now today for the first time her heartbroken dad Bill, 59, - who is also dad to Kate’s brother Oliver, 32, - chokes back tears as he begs his eldest daughter to come home and meet her secret sibling.
“Katie I am your dad and I love you with all of my heart and I beg you to forgive me for all the times I have not been there for you, “ he says.
“Every day I miss you and have shed more tears over this terrible situation than you can imagine.
“But I beg you to stop this hurt and anger and come home and meet your baby sister.
“The time is now to stop dancing out of our lives. It is time for us to heal as a family.
“I have shown Lalania so many photos of you, but now I urge you to come and get to know the little girl who reminds me of you in so many ways.
“I know you will love her, if only you will give us a chance.”
As soon as Lalania was born on the 25th July 2006 Bill tells how he immediately called Kate to tell her about her new baby sister.
Bu then and still now Kate astonishingly has shown no interest in the new arrival in her family.
Bill – who calls his daughter Katie - says: “When I called Katie to tell her about Lalania she was on a movie set in Boston.
“Things as ever were a bit awkward and tense on the phone and so when I blurted out: “Katie you have a beautiful new sister called Lalania” she really was so taken aback she did not know what to say.
“The phone call was so short as Katie made up an excuse she was needed on set but said she would call me back.
“She never called me back and has never made any attempt to meet Lalania since.
“I bumped into her in the supermarket in Malibu last year and gently mentioned Lalania again, but once again she could not get away from me quick enough.”
Bill – who has two other children Emily, 26, and Zachary, 23, with second wife Laverne And Shirley sitcom star Cindy Williams – added: “Being estranged from Katie has always broken my heart, but now that Lalania is here it makes it all seem so much worse.
“All my children have the same blood running through their veins, yet two of them, Oliver and Katie, have not met the new addition to their family.
“Emily and Zachary miss Katie as much as I do. They cannot understand why she does not want us in her life.
“My biggest dream in life is to have all my children together in one room at the same time, sharing our lives together, laughing and smiling like we all used to do.
“But right now that is impossible because Katie continues to want nothing to do with me and the rest of our family.
“Not long ago I wrote to her every month for six months begging for her to let me into her life again.
“And I have reminded Katie about Lalania on multiple occasions since, but she is so engrossed In her own life I’m not sure she even remembers she has a sister.
“It is the only conceivable reason I can think of to explain the fact not once has she ever tried to meet her.”
Sitting with us at his sprawling family ranch high up in the Santa Monica Mountains in California, Bill tells how once Kate loved him with all of her heart and was a complete daddy’s girl.
And as he shares intimate family photos and videos of Kate’s childhood there is no doubt they once were a happy family, even after Bill and Goldie divorced 14 months after Kate was born.
Bill said: “You can see in the hours of video footage and thousands of photos from the kids childhood we were a happy family.
“Even after Goldie and I split we made sure we had joint custody of the kids and I loved nothing more than being a hands on dad.
“As a musician I used to spend hours with Katie and her brothers and sister Emily as they made up dance routines together.
“Her favourite artists to dance to were Michael Jackson and Madonna.
“We used to be dancing all over the house laughing so hard we couldn’t breathe.
“But then when Katie was about nine things between Goldie and I started to sour after she gave birth to her first son with Kurt Russell, Wyatt in 1986.
“Because it was then she started spending more and more time with the kids at her home in Aspen, miles away from me.
“And I could do nothing about it. Time and time again I would make arrangements to see the kids and then she would cancel at the last minute.
“It got to the stage where I just gave up and told Katie and Oliver that I was sick of competing with their mum and if they wanted to see me they knew where I was.
“Now I know how damaging that mush have been for Katie and Oliver as they were far too young to understand and is a decision I will regret until the day I die.
“Because it was then Katie and Oliver started to think of Kurt as their dad and it was like I didn’t exist.
“All our happy memories together were forgotten and replaced with new ones with their new dad.
“But I take full responsibility for that and now just hope it is not too late for us to rebuild our relationship.
“Since having Lalania I feel more than anything that something is missing form my life. And that something is her brother and sister.”
Today Bill tells how despite having different mums Lalania bears an uncanny resemblance to Kate.
And as he and his gorgeous toddler daughter run around the ranch together Bill shares some of those similarities with us.
“From the moment Lalania came into this world I just looked at her and saw Katie,” he says.
“Both of them have the most exotic eyes and this way of looking at you which makes you laugh and melt at the same time.
“From the moment Katie could walk and talk I remember saying to Goldie I thought she was going to be an actress.
“She was the most loveable little girl but when she hugged and kissed you there was a certain aloofness that Lalania possesses too.
“And I think that reserved nature is what many actresses possess, it is like they are locked in another world.
“So it would not surprise me if Lalania follows in her big sisters foot steps and becomes a movie star too.
“There are other uncanny similarities too. Both Katie and Lalania are completely head strong and bossy.
“Whenever the kids would put on a performance for us at home it was always Katie directing the show and Lalania is totally like that too.
“She always wants her own way and like Katie has a certain wildness running through every bone in her body.
“I know if they ever meet they will become great friends as they share almost identical personalities.”
Along with never meeting Lalania, Kate has also stopped Bill from becoming a granddad to her son Ryder.
For despite five years having passed since Kate’s son Ryder – whose dad is her ex husband Chris Robinson a musician with The Black Crowes – was born Bill has still NEVER met him.
“It kills me that I have never had chance to kiss and cuddle my grandson, “ tells Bill.
“The only reason I know what he looks like is because I have seen him on the pages of magazines.
“Never has Katie ever introduced me to him and never has she even sent me a photo of him.
“There is only two years difference between Ryder and Lalania and it saddens me so much that neither of them have once even played together.
“When Ryder was two Katie and I had one of our very sporadic phone conversations and I said to her: “Katie I would love to meet your son.”
“And she said she would love that too, but she has never done anything about it.
“They live so close and it seems so tragic Katie is continuing to allow our relationship to impact on the rest of our family.
“Instead of acting like we don’t exist we could be sharing family holidays and insuring our children grow up in a healthy loving environment.”
The last time Bill saw his daughter – who has dated actor Owen Wilson and is the current rumoured girlfriend of New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez – was in August last year.
And once again despite mentioning the fact Kate had a little sister she had never met she ignored Bill’s attempts at reconciliation.
Recalling that meeting he said: “We were at a Starbucks in Malibu and we hugged and kissed and I told her how much I missed and loved her.
“I asked after Ryder and she said he was great. But as ever there was a distance in Katie I could not penetrate.
“I told her my brother Brett, her uncle, had cancer and she was genuinely saddened by that news and said she would go and see him, which she did.
“But when I mentioned Lalania to her and gently pushed for a meeting Katie as ever just didn’t want to talk about it.
“I think I have hurt her so much in her teenage years she just cannot allow me to come back into her life n case I hurt her again.
“Which is why I am speaking out today publicly to tell her how sorry I am and to beg her to let me into her life.
“This wonderful bundle of joy called Lalania has entered my life and I just want Katie to meet her in the hope a new life can help heal our family.
“I cannot do more than say how sorry I am. But Katie has to step up too now and I hope she is finally ready to do that.”
