Square-Enix owned IO Interactive announced the fifth game in the Hitman series this morning. Titled Hitman Absolution, it finds the titular Agent 47 betrayed by his agency and on the run from international law enforcement.

In a press release forwarded this morning, IO also announced that Hitman Absolution will use Glacier 2, a new engine from IO, and that the game will be "familiar and yet significantly different experience from other Hitman Games," according to Tore Blystad, the game's director.

No release date has been set for Hitman Absolution. We'll have more information about Hitman Absolution for you during this year's E3, starting June 7th.
