Well hello dear readers! It's been a long time since my last column. I've been working on my portfolio lately and also I've been procrastinating a bit. Thankfully I had some left-over pieces so I'm going to post them all here. ![]() Advertisement
Under the spotlight this week is Mai's Final Fantasy XIII piece. This is a weird idea but it is beautifuly done. Baby Lightning is really cute! I like the linework, but I think the piece would be even better if it was more contrasted. There are some deep blacks here and there, but darker shadows would be great. ![]() Advertisement
TomR strikes again with his latest piece. I have some concerns with some parts, like the size of the head, for example, but other than that, the anatomy is quite beautiful. The color choice and brush settings almost make the character look like it's a clay sculpture. Our first Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy fan art arrived just a little before the game was released. It's a nice drawing of the female characters posing for your viewing pleasure in DeadFishie's typical style. I personally think Yuna looks best, although her right hand couldn't possibly be placed like that. The pose looks right, but only if it was a left hand. Finishing this week's submissions is StormofSword's last part of the Horrible Things series featuring Vincent Valentine's limit break transformations. I like that both wings are not drawn in the same angle; makes the whole piece more dynamic. The detailing is quite good, but it could be taken further with thiner lines. Having varying line width also helps clarity in the piece. And thus ends this week's column! I'm also posting all of the late comics instead of the typical five. Chapter 5 begins in Final Fantasy 6 Comic as the heroes finally make it to the Returner's Hideout. They meet with Banon who decides he wants to take a nap. Meanwhile, Locke has a bad time on a boat in About Locke 15. As for the column itself, I'm not going to promise regular updates for now on as I just can't guarantee everything will work out well. I'll try as hard as I can, though, but of course, I'm going to need some more submissions in order to be able to update frequently. Thank you, and see you next time!
