Bill Barrale

Bill Barrale was named the head coach of Williams baseball after serving two years as an assistant coach and he promptly led his first Eph nine to the 2007 NESCAC title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the way to compiling a record of 27-10.

In his five years as head coach, Barrale has compiled a 123-57-1 record (.682 win percentage) and taken the Ephs to the NESCAC Tournament four times.

In his second year in 2008 Barrale guided the Ephs to a record of 24-12 and to a second straight NESCAC West title.

Barrale captured his third consecutive NESCAC West title in 2009 when his Ephs posted an record of 25-12 and a NESCAC West mark of 9-3.

The deciding game in the NESCAC West 2009 season came on May 3rd in Pittsfield, Mass., when the Ephs and Amherst squared off in a game celebrating the 150th anniversary of the oldest college game in America. Williams prevailed 8-5 in a game seen live on ESPN360.com and later on ESPN U. 

In April Barrale's Ephs defeated the third oldest and winningest college team in America when they ventured into the Bronx NY and disposed of Division I Fordham Unviersity 5-2.

Prior to joining the Williams baseball and football staffs Barrale served as the head coach of baseball at Norwich University for five years and as an assistant football coach for six years.

In the summer of 2002 Barrale was an assistant coach of the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League.

Barrale is a 1994 graduate of Northeastern University and was a standout in football and baseball. 

Barrale led the 1994 Huskies to a 35-16 record, the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship, was named NAC Tournament MVP and earned NAC All-Star honors.

Barrale received his Master’s degree in Student Personnel Services from Rowan University in 2004

Barrale is the Ephs' offensive coordinator and QB coach in football. He resides in Williamstown.




Jim Entwisle

Assistant Coach

Jim Entwisle is in his first year as an assistant at Williams College, where he acts as the team’s Infield coach.  He attended the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, PA, where he played water polo and baseball.  His Senior year, he was named co-captain of the baseball team and was an All Inter-Ac League selection.

Entwisle graduated from Williams College in 2010 with B.A.’s in Spanish and Economics, and was a 4 year member of the varsity baseball team after walking-on his freshman year.  During his tenure, the Ephs secured 4 NESCAC West Division crowns and captured a NESCAC title in 2007, qualifying them for a spot in the NCAA tournament.  

On the diamond, Entwisle played middle-infield but saw most of his time as a 2nd baseman.  As a Senior, he was awarded the James R. Briggs Baseball Award, which  is “presented annually to a member of the varsity baseball team regardless of graduating class who, in the opinion of his teammates, best embodies the ideals of leadership, teamwork, and the values of the student - athlete."




John Allen

Assistant Coach

John Allen is entering his fifth year as an assistant baseball coach at Williams.

Allen was a standout three-sport athlete at Drury HS in North Adams, MA and later played football and baseball at Holy Cross College.

Prior to coaching at Williams, Allen coached baseball, basketball and football at Mt. Greylock HS in Williamstown and served as the athletic director.

The football field at Mt. Greylock -- John T. Allen Field -- is named after him.
 




Michael Gladu

Pitching Coach

Michael Gladu joined Bill Barrale's staff in 2010 as the pitching coach. Gladu graduated from Hoosac Valley High School in 1985.

He was an All-WMass selection at Hoosac and played College Baseball at Div. 2 American International College in Springfield,Ma. Gladu also played two seasons in the Chicago Cubs Minor League System. He coached 10 years in the Adams Babe Ruth League and worked two years at the Dan Duquette Sports Academy and was pitching coach for Hoosac Valley High for 2 years. In addition, he acted as pitching coach for the North Adams American Legion Baseball team for 6 years.

Gladu lives in Adams with wife Quinn Gladu and I have 3 boys, 2 girls and 2 Step Children
