Anyone charged with any crime needs a criminal defense attorney on their side. This is so important that the state has to provide one to you if you are indigent. Either hire one or wait for the public defender to be appointed.

That is not the way it works. The criminal defense attorney does not file charges, he defends against them. Only the prosecutor files the charges.

Since you put this under the category of criminal law, perhaps you should go see a criminal defense attorney. You didn\'t say what the threat was or even if there was a threat. Generally speaking, a threat to do bodily harm must be coupled with the present ability to carry out the threat, in my opinion.
