Michigan Questions & Answers
Q: What is my citizenship status?

1 Answer | Asked in Immigration Law for Michigan on Sep 3, 2015

Answered on Sep 4, 2015

Shan Dimitris Potts' answer
If you were born outside the US you do not have any status as of now even if your parents are US citizens. Your parents or your sister can sponsor you for a green card and after 5 years of being a green card holder you can apply for citizenship. Talk to an attorney to help you with this process if you wish to get started. All the best.

1 Answer | Asked in Appeals / Appellate Law for Michigan on Aug 29, 2015
Answered on Sep 1, 2015
Robert Jason De Groot's answer
My thoughts are that you need to speak with an appellate attorney about the issues you have raised here. This is not just a basic legal question, but requires much time to discuss, research, and try to answer.
Q: Is it illegal to pass out fliers on a sex offender off Otis
Robert Jason De Groot's answer
When you ask if something like this is illegal, an attorney would have to look it up in the statutes and also the case law of the state. I suppose that it would depend more upon whether what was in the fliers was true so as to avoid civil liability for libel or slander.

Q: Are there any laws in Colorado defining what a bouncer may do to remove a patron from a bar?
1 Answer | Asked in Criminal Law for Michigan on Aug 28, 2015
Answered on Aug 28, 2015
Robert Jason De Groot's answer
She struck the bouncer. You know only what your daughter has told you, right? Too much chance for misperception of facts when you do that. If the police had been called, she probably would have gone to jail instead of just being kicked out of the bar. I guess you want to know whether your daughter can sue the bar. There probably are not any laws governing this, as you ask. But I do not practice law there, just FL.

Robert Jason De Groot's answer
You are putting the cart before the horse. The evidence siezed in a search which is ruled to violate the 4th amendment is then suppressed. At that stage the state does not have the evidence, and the case is dismissed by them. When you have a legal question like this, it is always best to go see a criminal defense attorney. Posting questions online does not always work because an attorney needs to know all of the facts and circumstances surrounding the question. One of the exceptions to support...
