A balloon mortgage must contain certain language, both at the top of the mortgage and right above the signature line. If the specific language is not included at both places, there is no balloon, basically.

This is what I think you are asking: You spent money on material and labor and paid for this material and labor through your account thinking that you had sufficient funds b/c someone gave you a check. Later, the check bounced so you now don't have sufficient funds and your account is overdrawn. Most of the time, the signature card on a joint account will say that the parties signing on the account are joint tenants with a right of surviorship, but not always. A person could be merely an additional signatory on an account with no ownership. Look at the bank document.
