TRAINING: A typical day of intense training starts with a morning run, breakfast and rest, then sparring in the gym. Back home to rest and take a nap, and evening training depends on the day of the week – it’s a wrestling, striking or grappling session. Two or three times a week I take a Crossfit class.

 

When and why did you start training for fighting? I was always involved in sports and martial arts. My MMA career started accidentally. I received an offer to fight in a small tournament, I accepted it and I loved it.

 

What ranks and titles have you held? Two-time Europe and world champion of combat sambo. World champion WUFC (MMA organization). International master of sport in combat sambo, master of sport in wrestling.

 

Do you have any heroes? I'm a religious person, and believe only in God and his prophet.

 

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? UFC is the highest step in the MMA chain, so I'm happy that I got the opportunity to compete here.

 

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Graduated from Dagestan State University. I studied accounting and taxes.

 

What was your job before you started fighting? I used to have a small business, but I quit.
